Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some individuals like trying out new things such as varieties of food or visiting different locations while others prefer to do the things they are already familiar with. People who like to explore new things find it interesting due to the benefits that comes with it such as exposure and additional knowledge. However, those who love to maintain the practice of familiar activities often become expert and specialized, which is also an additional advantage to them. In my own opinion, I think it is good to explore new things due to the advantages involved.
First and foremost, exposure and additional knowledge are two major advantages of exploration in human beings. In most cases trying out new things such as exploring new locations across the globe usually connects multiple individuals together from different backgrounds. As a result, people meet, socialize and also learn about each other culture, ethics as well as values. Additionally, when individuals try out new activities, it differentiates them from the introverted category of people due to the experience and knowledge gained through exploration such as visiting museums in other countries and learning about their historical background. This category of individuals find it interesting and that is one of the major reasons why they keep trying out new things everyday.
On the other hand, people who keep doing familiar activities overtime usually derive in-depth knowledge of it which as a result positions them as expert in their desired fields. When certain practice or habits are repeatedly done by an individual, it gives them more knowledge about because they tend to dedicate their focus and time in such habits. As a result, they learn about the hidden tricks, study the complicated part of it due to continuous repetition. For instance, Specialist doctors who specialize on specific part of human body usually have deep understanding of such areas than a general doctor. Therefore, continuous practice of familiar activities often leads to specialized expertise in desired fields.
In conclusion, doing familiar things repeatedly usually provides in-depth knowledge to individuals involved while the habit of trying out new things contributes to widened knowledge and exposure. In my own opinion, it is a good idea to try out new things by exploring them because it widens individual intellectual capacity in various fields.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt. You clearly discuss both attitudes—the preference for new experiences and the preference for familiar routines—and provide a personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the comparison between generalists and specialists. However, the development could be more nuanced; for instance, the argument about 'introverted' people is a bit of a generalization and could be better supported with more precise reasoning. Overall, the position is clear throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points while reiterating your stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost,' 'On the other hand,' and 'As a result' to link your thoughts. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Additionally, the referencing in the second body paragraph—specifically the phrase 'about because'—is slightly awkward, which disrupts the cohesion of that sentence. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to a coherent response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'specialized expertise,' 'intellectual capacity,' and 'historical background.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'benefits that comes with it' (should be 'come') and 'derive in-depth knowledge of it' (should be 'derive in-depth knowledge from it'). You attempt to use less common vocabulary, which is good, but some phrasing is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding minor errors in word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you show good control over basic grammar, there are several recurring errors. For example, subject-verb agreement issues occur, such as 'benefits that comes' instead of 'come.' There are also minor punctuation and preposition errors, such as 'specialize on' instead of 'specialize in' and 'each other culture' instead of 'each other's culture.' Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of possessives.
