Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both attitudes and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of exploring new places, such as health and knowledge, the arguments remain quite general. The second body paragraph regarding those who prefer familiarity is slightly repetitive and lacks specific examples to support why this preference is valid. To improve, ensure that each point is fully extended with concrete examples or deeper analysis rather than just stating the preference. Your position is clear throughout the essay, which is a positive aspect of your writing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the benefits of travel and the survey mention could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'enjoy that thing fully' in the second body paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on some repetitive phrasing, such as 'do things' and 'new things'. There are also several collocation errors, such as 'atmospheric variation' instead of 'diverse climates' and 'person metal as well as physical status' (likely meant 'mental'). While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of word-choice errors limit the score. Focusing on learning topic-specific collocations would greatly enhance your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some individual prefer', 'they wants'), article usage (e.g., 'corner of world'), and pluralization (e.g., 'different kind of cuisine'). While you attempt complex sentences, they are often marred by these errors. To improve, you should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for these common errors would significantly improve your score.
