Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people like to experience new things, such as visiting new places and trying variety of food. While other people stay in the comfort zone and limit themselves with only familiar things. Let us analyse both perspectives in the subsequent paragraphs with some relevant examples.
To begin with, this section sheds light on the favourable consequences and advantages associated with trying new things. First and foremost, traveling to new places and enjoying different cuisines not only enhance your knowledge about other country's culture, but also make you independant. To clarify, after visiting new tourist spot, you develop knowledge about the city's history and rich heritage. Apart from this, you enrich your knowledge about different ingredients of certain country. For example, a famous blogger David Williams, on his Youtube channel posted few videos about visiting Northern India. He further highlighted the historical significance of famous city Amritsar Sahib and included reviews about different food items which he tried during his stay.
On the other hand, this paragraph provide information about the people who prefer to keep trying the usual things on daily basis. Primarily since introvert people do not feel comfortable to communicate with other people, they do not prefer to visit famous or busy tourist spots where they do not have enough room to sit and observe. In additional, lack of knowledge about different food items makes people hesitant to purchase them. Sometimes many vegetarian people avoid eating food in China because they build misconception about country's food.
To encapsulate, it can be concluded that whether people like to experiment with new adventures or not, it provide them a sense of satisfaction related to their personality.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the prompt and provides a personal opinion, although the opinion is somewhat vague in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, but the development is inconsistent. For instance, the argument regarding introverts in the second body paragraph is a bit of a leap and lacks a clear connection to the prompt's focus on 'familiarity' versus 'new things'. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesise the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your personal stance is explicitly stated and consistently supported throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Apart from this', and 'On the other hand' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where 'it' refers back to a vague concept. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal flow within the second body paragraph could be improved to better connect the idea of introversion with the preference for familiar environments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'favourable consequences' and 'historical significance'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocations and minor errors, such as 'trying variety of food' (missing article), 'independant' (spelling error), and 'build misconception' (should be 'have misconceptions'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score. Expanding the range of precise adjectives and ensuring correct word forms would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout, including subject-verb agreement issues ('this paragraph provide', 'it provide them') and article usage ('visiting new tourist spot', 'about country's food'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips that occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article consistency, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
