IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people like to try new things, for example, places to visit and types of food. Other people prefer to keep doing things they are familiar with.
Discuss both these attitudes and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some individuals like to explore new things for their happiness such as different cuisines whereas others believe that for satisfaction and perfection, it is better to do familiar things. This essay will discuss both the contentious argruments and then I will give my own perspective regarding latter view.
On one hand, humans are inventing new things everyday such as a new recipe, a gadget and a tourist attraction and such things are beneficial for modernization. Therefore, some people try new things for the entertainment purpose and to explore the surroundings while some try those things for better adaptability and opportunities to learn . For example, when a person travels to new place they feel uncomfortable for the first time and then they become confident enough to travel alone.
On the other hand, strictly following the same routine will result in happiness. Moreover, doing familiar things guarntee the outsomes. For example, a person after an exhausting day wants to have good dinner at same restaurant rather than trying new cuisine which might spoil the mood. In addition to, it results in satisfaction of being worthy with time and money.
In my point of view, trying new things sometimes result in wastage of money because new things are expensive such as a new smartphone while choosing the same activity provides a guarantee and relaxation that it will result the same.
To conclude, some people like to explore new things which gives them happiness of new world and there are few individuals who keep doing same things because it guarantee the results. Although, new things are the part of modernization, I believe that it is better to choose familiar things for a peace of mind.

Overall progression is clear, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'modernization,' 'adaptability,' and 'exhausting day.' However, there are notable word choice and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'argurments' instead of 'arguments,' 'guarntee' instead of 'guarantee,' and 'outsomes' instead of 'outcomes.' Vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but errors prevent it from reaching a higher band, placing it solidly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional and participial clauses.
