IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people like to try new things, for example, places to visit and types of food. Other people prefer to keep doing things they are familiar with.
Discuss both these attitudes and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people tend to explore new things while others prefer doing things they knew better. These decisions depend upon the personal preference of a person.However, I prefer to try new things because they develop new skills and enhance ones ideology of observing the things.
Exploring new things is a trait present in many people. It acquires one with set of new skills which can be helpful in many regards. Some people prefer to visit new places and explore different types of foods as it gives them amusement and provide them with the feeling of independence. Similarly it also enables one to get a keen observation of different situations and to get a statistical view of the gains and losses. For instance, many people try to get into many professions throughout their lifetime to get better knowledge of the insights of businesses and ,if in right direction, it carves their skills to make them more professional and successfull. Similarly, visiting different places gets the person equipped with knowledge of different geological regions and these people acquire certain survival skills which help them alot in their life.
Comparatively, some people prefer doing things familiar to them. It can be both beneficial and damaging depending on the situation. Professionally, many business tycoons and successfull people prefer doing the work they are confident of. This enables one with the security and better understanding of that very work. But on the other hand if people don`t try to explore new ideas, their existing ideas will be wiped out and be replaced by the new innovative ideas soon. Similarly, when people don`t try to explore new things , they are actually missing many opportunites because of the fear within them and it ultimately lags them behind and they repent later.
Exploring new and innovative ideas is the basis of human evolution and one should keep trying new things in his life because life is actaully the name of exploring different things.

Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, and referencing is generally clear throughout the text, warranting a Band 6.5.
