Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is an undeniable fact that many individuals prefer to try new attractions such as food cuisine and tourist places, for exploring and learning about different cultuires. Whereas, other people only visit places they are familiar to such as same restaraunts everytime because they feel more comfortable in repetition. In my opinion, i concur with the former statement, as socializing will benefit an individual in many ways. This essay will discuss abouty both views and my opinion.

To begin with, trying new food options from different regions can assist in learning culture and religion about them. It will also help in connecting on a fair ground. To exemplify, In Asia, korean food and entertainment sector is getting popular, young generation follows all the trend set up by them. Additionally, travelling overseas allows an individual to fascinate it's beauty. It is often seen, that people observe others while eating and they can learn eating habbits of different places. To illustrate, citizens of English speaking countries eat their food with fork and knife and close their mouth whie chewing which attracts other tourists.

However, visiting same places and trying familiar food provides a unique comfort level. It helps an individual to save their precious time upon deciding where to visit and what to eat. To add on, the major reason behind this trend is families are concerned about their financial budget and they do not want to spend it on commodities they would not like at the end.

In my perspective, travelling and exploring is essential it helps in socializing and creating network which can benefit in various ways; such as learning new languages and food cuisines. Moreover, visting new attractions can boost your confidence and will encourage you to be passionate about trying innovative ideas.

To conclude, families prefer to visit same places because of comfort and financial responsibilities but visiting new places and trying their food cuisines will assit in knowing their culture and religion which will eventually benefit in cognitive development of an individual.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both attitudes towards trying new things versus keeping to the familiar, and clearly states a personal opinion in favor of the former. Ideas are extended and supported with examples, such as the popularity of Korean culture in Asia and differences in dining etiquette. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise and could be more fully developed with deeper explanation. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Overall, the performance meets the requirements for a Band 6.5 to 7.0, and fits comfortably within the Band 6.5 descriptors for addressing the prompt adequately while presenting relevant, supported ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the two distinct viewpoints and the writer's perspective. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'To conclude' are employed to guide the reader, although some referencing and transitional phrasing are a bit mechanical, such as 'This essay will discuss abouty both views and my opinion.' The use of cohesive devices is generally effective despite minor inaccuracies in signposting phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'commodities', 'cognitive development', and 'financial responsibilities'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'cultuires', 'restaraunts', 'food cuisine' (redundant collocation), and 'abouty'. Furthermore, expressions like 'fascinate it's beauty' show awkward collocation and grammatical control over lexical items. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 7.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with conditional and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as comma splices ('traveling and exploring is essential it helps in...'), incorrect prepositional usage ('familiar to' instead of 'familiar with'), pronoun agreement issues ('fascinate it's beauty'), and awkward phrasing. Although these errors rarely impede communication, the density of grammatical slips keeps the response at a Band 6 level rather than a Band 7.
