Student answer (Band 6.5)
Growing number of people invest their time and effort in trying various new things whether it is visiting new places or trying different types of food. While other people believe in doing repetetive things. There are plenty of reasons associated with both the viewpoints. In my opinion, trying new things help expand the vision of conciousness.
To start with, people who are in favour of experimenting variety of things in life are generally more curious than the people who perform same things over time. Likewise, their neurological brain find it fascinating when exposed to different experiences and over time they crave the fresh and unexplored ideas. For example, eating a different flavour of an ice cream imprints their brain in making new memories.
In addition to this, trying new activities is also an indicator of personailty trait of an individual because their actions govern their thinking and vice versa. In addition to this, it is commonly seen that not only these people are creative learners but also more adaptable to change. To illustrate, people who have the capacity to absorb the change will naturally be trying new things.
On the other side, people who have fear of uncertainity commonly stay by the book and prefer to stick to their usual habits such as eating the same food which they like or staying where they find it comfortable because of their introvert personality types. Not to forget, some people also find it relaxing because making decisions other than their usual thinking exposes their mind to new information which intends to make them think and interupt their peace.
To conclude, it is my firm believe that people who prefer changing their habits are open to change and does not fear the uncertainty of an experience. However, in my viewpoint, people opposite to the notion are more introvert and submissive.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both attitudes towards new experiences versus familiarity, and provides a clear position throughout. The writer introduces their opinion in the introduction ("In my opinion, trying new things help expand the vision of conciousness") and reiterates it in the conclusion. Ideas are extended with reasons and examples, such as mentioning ice cream and personality traits, although some arguments border on generalisations, which aligns well with a Band 7 performance. The main aspects of the prompt are covered adequately and supported, showing clear engagement with the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as "To start with", "In addition to this", "On the other side", and "To conclude". However, there is some minor mechanical use of transitions (repeating "In addition to this"), and occasional referencing issues, which keep it at a Band 6.5 or solid Band 6 level. Overall, the arrangement is coherent, making the writer's line of thought easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "neurological", "adaptable to change", and "uncertainty". However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as "repetetive" instead of repetitive, "conciousness" instead of consciousness, and "personailty trait" instead of personality trait. Furthermore, phrases like "expand the vision of conciousness" are slightly unnatural in collocation. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, placing the lexical resource comfortably at a Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text. For instance, subject-verb agreement issues are present, such as "trying new things help" instead of helps, and "does not fear" where the subject is plural ("people..."). Punctuation and article usage also show occasional lapses, such as "fear of uncertainity" without an article. These errors occur with some frequency but rarely impede communication, aligning with the Band 6 descriptors.
