Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people thinks that like they should try new thing in their life like anew place to visit or try dishes but on the other number of people argue that they should do a thing that they do from longer time. We will discuss both of the views with example and explanation in upcoming paragraphs. I will stand with formal part of this statement.

To commence with, here number of individuals are agree with formal statement of this. People should use new things in their life i agree. There are some benefits of this first of all, when they start to doing new things like visit on new place then they can get more knowledge about out of their town. Secondly if they try new food then they can enjoy new experiences and they can suggest to others. For example, i remember when I tried pizza first time then i experienced something different like some amazing i am from india and pizza is italian food. There i can say people should try new things.

Further more, a few numbers of people thinks we do should familiar thing in their life i think they are not a wrong because they do not want to take a risk they may be are scaring. Moreover some folks have old thinking. For example, a survey was conducted by a head of the village from their local people there are 65% individuals followed their similar daily life because they do not want to take any risk. Therefore we can say they do not want to use new activities.

To conclude i am agree with citizens who added new activities in their routine and want to get some new experience but i also respect other they are not agree.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The candidate addresses all parts of the task by discussing both attitudes towards trying new things versus sticking to the familiar, and clearly states their own opinion throughout the response. Ideas are introduced, such as gaining new knowledge and experiences versus avoiding risk, though they are somewhat limited and repetitive in development. For example, the argument regarding trying new food is supported with a brief personal anecdote about eating pizza as someone from India, which is relevant. However, the reasoning tends to generalise and lacks deeper elaboration. The position is maintained from the introduction through to the conclusion, satisfying the core requirements of this criterion. Overall, the response achieves a Band 5.5 as it presents all required elements but remains somewhat restricted and under-developed in its explanations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, following a standard essay structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is disrupted by mechanical and repetitive transitions, such as 'To commence with', 'Further more', and 'To conclude'. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or awkward, as seen in phrases like 'on the other number of people argue' and 'formal part of this statement'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within the body paragraphs often feels disjointed, with ideas strung together rather than smoothly connected. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous use of pronouns. These issues place the response firmly at Band 5.0, where organisation is present but overall progression and cohesive management lack clarity.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited and basic, with frequent vocabulary errors and inappropriate word choices that occasionally cause strain for the reader. Examples include writing 'formal statement' instead of 'former statement', and using 'scaring' instead of 'scared' or 'fearful'. The candidate attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'conducted' and 'individuals', but these are offset by repetitive basic terms like 'new thing', 'people', and 'things'. Spelling errors also appear, such as 'anew' instead of 'a new'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic and arguments, the lack of precision and frequent word-form errors restrict the score to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some people thinks', 'people do should familiar thing'), tense consistency, and prepositions (e.g., 'visit on new place'). Many complex sentences are faulty and contain run-on structures or comma splices, such as in the opening and closing paragraphs. Although these errors do not entirely prevent the reader from understanding the main message, they occur with high frequency and impede fluent reading. Consequently, the grammatical accuracy and range align best with a Band 4.5, reflecting a persistent pattern of basic grammatical errors across most sentences.
