Student answer (Band 6.0)

Due to the advancement of technology, by exploring new things, each and every person want to boost their knowledge such as visiting the new places, taste varities of food and so on. However, other individuals prefer to do that kinds of things which they have already go through. In this essay, I will discuss both views and my opinion as well with relevant examples in forthcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, the most promenient reason is breaking monotonous rountine. To explain it, nowadays, everyone is stuck in their work schedule and sometimes they feel bore from their working hours and same daily routines. So, visiting on unknown places, this is best way to refresh their mind. Moreover, many people are foodholic, they love to try diferent kinds of food items which related to other nations, relgions and so on, For example, in Punjab, some sweets like jalebi which is the national dessert in that city, but it is most like by Gurjati people. Therefore, this is better choice to relax from hectic timetable by doing these types of things.

On the other hand, many residents like to do same things because of comfort and security. To elaborate it, whenever we go at new places, we are unaware regarding the security, and other things. We do not know about the restrictions as there are some places where is probhited. If we go there, then can be danger for us. Additionally, most of people are suffering from different types of allegries. So, when they eat food from other places, then they are getting sick. That is why, individuals always try to do things they are know about that.

In conclusion, although going at new place and taste new items is beneficial for us to enhance the information, feel fresh as well, feeling safe and secure should be our first priority.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both attitudes towards trying new things versus sticking to the familiar, and clearly states the writer's own opinion in the conclusion. Ideas are relevant, such as breaking a monotonous routine versus prioritizing safety and comfort, and they are supported with examples like trying new food items and potential security risks at unknown places. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise or lack deeper extension, placing the response firmly at a Band 6 level for Task Achievement where all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, though some remain slightly under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. However, the cohesion feels somewhat mechanical and repetitive in places, relying heavily on transitional phrases like 'To begin with', 'To explain it', and 'To elaborate it'. Referencing is generally clear, but awkward phrasing in sentences such as 'so, visiting on unknown places, this is best way to refresh their mind' creates disruptions in logical flow. These issues align with the Band 6 descriptor, where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'monotonous routine', 'foodholic', and 'hectic timetable'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('promenient', 'rountine', 'diferent', 'relgions', 'Gurjati', 'probhited', 'allegries') and word choice or collocation inaccuracies, such as 'visiting on unknown places' instead of 'visiting unknown places', and 'taste new items' instead of 'trying new foods'. These lexical slips and spelling errors do not seriously impede communication, fitting the criteria for Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar with complex structures attempted throughout the essay. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'each and every person want to boost' (subject-verb agreement error), 'prefer to do that kinds of things' (demonstrative and noun agreement), and 'individuals always try to do things they are know about that'. Punctuation is also occasionally faulty, with run-on sentences and comma splices. These errors require some effort from the reader to untangle, which is characteristic of a Band 5 performance for grammar.
