Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is irrefutable that many individuals prefer to try new things, for instance, places to explore and varities of food. However, others are opposing this point of view. I will discuss the both sides in the upcoming paragraphs along with my opinion.

Commencing with the main reason which justifies that why many individuals like to try new things. The most prominent one is that many individuals like to try new things because exploring at new places to know their culture to know about new food and eat varities of new food, know about their daily lifestyle and click pictures there, visit new historical places to know more about different religions, they took many positive things from visiting other places and implement that in their life.

However, the other people keep doing things they are familiar with because they not go anywhere far from their town or village because they have their favourite food and places in there town. They like to eat one food mostly that food makes them happy they visit just to their places whenever they free and they do not want to go somewhere far to visit. They not like to go other places, they happy to live at home mostly.

In cocclusion, although in my opinion visiting to other places know about new things eating new foods learning new recepies visiting different historical places learn about new culture, increase their knowledge more as compared to that people who prefer to keep doing same familiar things. So the people who visit more places are live more happy their stress also decrease with this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both attitudes and providing an opinion, which aligns with the requirements of this band level. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and uneven across the paragraphs. For example, the body paragraph supporting novelty provides a list of repetitive concepts regarding exploring places, food, and culture without sufficient extension or concrete examples. Similarly, the paragraph discussing familiarity focuses narrowly on staying near home and eating favourite foods without deeper exploration. While a clear position is stated and maintained throughout the essay, the arguments remain somewhat basic and under-developed, preventing the response from reaching a higher level of task response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently mechanical and repetitive, particularly with transitional phrases like 'Commencing with the main reason' and repetitive referencing patterns. Paragraphing is used, but internal flow is disrupted by run-on sentences and dense clauses that lack appropriate punctuation breaks, such as the overly long sentence in the second body paragraph beginning with 'The most prominent one is that...'. Progression is visible as the essay moves from introduction to body points and a final opinion, but the logical links between sentences can be difficult to follow due to inadequate cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating everyday ideas related to travel, food, and daily routines. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'varities' (spelling), 'at new places' (preposition/word choice), and 'recepies' (spelling), along with awkward phrasings like 'live more happy'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with some inaccuracy, such as 'irrefutable' at the outset, but word choice and spelling slips cause occasional difficulty for the reader. Despite these limitations, the vocabulary remains minimally adequate to convey the core message of the prompt.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response relies on a very limited range of grammatical structures, with frequent errors occurring in both simple and complex sentences. There are notable issues with verb forms, tense consistency, and missing auxiliary verbs, as seen in phrases like 'because they not go anywhere' and 'they happy to live at home mostly'. Sentence boundary errors and run-on structures are common, particularly in the conclusion where multiple clauses are joined without proper punctuation. These frequent grammatical errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader throughout the text.
