Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, People have two different attitudes towards getting an experience of trying things. Some people like to visit new places and eat various types of food. While others prefer to try things which they had already done before. This essay, will discuss both these views and give reasons for why I would prefer to not just stick with things that I have already done.
On the one hand, some people like to try new things, becuase it gives excitement and a sense of curiosity about trying new things. People can know more about culture and traditions of different country if they prefer to visit there and try their food.It helps to get an idea of differnet life style of different countries, which they can follow in their routine to avoid mistakes that they have been doing and live a better life. For example, America is the first country to provide benefits of early morning walk, which then followed by many countries to improve health of their people.
On the other hand, some people like to stick with things that they are familiar with. One of the main reasons for this is that, people do not want to forget their roots which reminds them where they have come from. Moreover, they are not aware of what developments are going on in the world, becuase they don't like to explore new things. Professore William Johns from the university of Chicago studies that people who likes to travel and explore the world lives longer than the people who just likes to stay in their boundaries and afraid of trying new things.
In conclusion, I believe that the reasons for trying new things are more relevant than keep doing the things which you already know. Therefore, a person should definitely explore the world once in their life rather than doing the things which they are familar with.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both attitudes towards trying new things versus sticking to the familiar, and it clearly states a personal position in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the first body paragraph attempts to explain the benefits of new experiences, the supporting arguments rely on broad and slightly unclear generalizations, such as claiming that America is the sole originator of early morning walks. The second body paragraph introduces a reference to a professor, but the argument remains somewhat underdeveloped in connecting cultural roots to the fear of exploration. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to fully extend and support all main ideas with more precise, logical reasoning and realistic examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement and logical progression, successfully fulfilling the requirements of the lower band while showing glimpses of the next. The response is divided into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two distinct body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and a clear concluding summary. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader through the arguments, utilizing transitional markers such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, cohesion occasionally feels somewhat mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is at times slightly imprecise, such as the abrupt transition between sentences in the second paragraph. To achieve a higher score, the writer should ensure that cohesive ties are managed more flexibly and that sentences flow smoothly into one another without relying on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts and attempting some less common lexical items such as 'traditions', 'exploration', and 'familiar'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling that reflect this band level. Examples include spelling errors like 'becuase' and 'Professore', awkward phrasing such as 'getting an experience of trying things' and 'lives longer than the people who just likes to stay in their boundaries', and minor word form slips like 'likes' instead of 'like'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving greater precision. To improve, the writer should expand their repertoire of natural collocations and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The text demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as subordinate clauses ('While others prefer to try things which they had already done before') and modal verbs. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the response, particularly regarding article use, tense consistency, and punctuation. Examples include 'This essay, will discuss' containing an unnecessary comma, 'which they had already done before' where the past perfect tense is slightly awkward compared to the simple past, and missing articles in phrases like 'different country' and 'differnet life style'. While these errors do occur, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the text. To reach a higher level, the writer must produce a greater proportion of error-free sentences when attempting complex structures and refine their control over punctuation and articles.
