Student answer (Band 4.5)
Nowadays, some people try different type of places for eating food and visting while other give preference to their old one. Both approches carry different type of experince which i will discuss in upcoming paragraphs.
Visting a new places for travelling and having a food is a good option because whenever we try these new things we get a new experince every single time and it inhance people knowldge. For example, last year i had been to a place which is called space restaurant. The experince was above the clouds beacuse i tried a different type of food and the enviourment of restaurent was amazing and i was feeling like i am in a space and having a dinner. Moreover, travelling to new places helps people to get real value of that area

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally, which is reflected in a low score for this criterion. Crucially, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 133 words against the minimum of 250 words. While the writer touches upon both attitudes (trying new things versus keeping familiar routines) and provides a personal example about visiting a space restaurant, the ideas are very limited and under-developed. Furthermore, the writer attempts to give their own opinion in the introduction by stating 'which i will discuss in upcoming paragraphs,' but the text stops abruptly after an incomplete sentence, failing to provide a fully realised conclusion or a clear, sustained position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response shows some organisation, but there is no clear overall progression due to the fragmented nature of the text. The student attempts to structure the essay with an introduction and a body paragraph, but the body paragraph cuts off mid-sentence, leaving the structure incomplete. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes repetitive, such as 'Moreover' and 'For example,' and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrase 'old one' to refer to familiar habits. Paragraphing is also disrupted because the essay consists of only two short blocks of text, lacking the clear staging required for a fully developed discussion essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for basic communication. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but this leads to noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'visting' instead of visiting, 'approches' instead of approaches, and 'experince' instead of experience. Other expressions like 'inhance people knowldge' and 'enviourment of restaurent' contain spelling and collocation inaccuracies that cause some difficulty for the reader. While the attempt to describe a 'space restaurant' shows a desire to use topic-specific vocabulary, the lexical control is restricted, keeping the range at a basic level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with occasional attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and mechanics, such as lowercase 'i', missing articles ('a food', 'to new places'), and incorrect verb forms ('i had been to a place which is called'). Sentence boundaries are poorly managed, and punctuation is inconsistent, including a missing full stop at the very end of the text. These frequent errors and the lack of complex sentence control mean the grammatical execution falls short of more competent levels.
