Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different attitudes about new things, whether they visit places or try a new kind of meal. Some people believe to stay on same things in which they are familiar with, while others concede to trying new experiences. This essay will discuss bpoth views before explaing why i believe trying new things is generally more beneficial.

On the one hand, many people prefer familiar experiences because it provide them security and certainty. Foe example, if someone went in a restaurant and try make mind to buy new dish there may be more chance that would be not meet their tongue taste so i would be preferrable for them to invest on those dishes they already had in their life. Consequentsly, It will give them certainty; they did not waste their money and enjoyed the taste as per their tongue.

On the other side, few masses rely on do changes and experiencing new things. Such people always feel sense of learning or gaining new experiences from new things that not only give them new vision but also develop new skills in them, which foster their personality. Many people explore adventurous places, such as islands, teaching people survival skills in places with fewer facilities. As a result, they become independent, bold and achieve a sense of achivements in hard situations.

In my opinion, familiar experiences provide people security while coming out from comfort zone and try new experiences offers you valuable achievements ,It does not matter what consequences of that decision are, but you definitely learn which improves your own personality.

In conclusion, although preferring old experiences reduces your failure cahnces but some how it will restrict your own growth, new experiences take you to another level where you learn a lot, which brightens your personality.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both attitudes and state a clear preference for trying new things, so the response covers the task and your position is identifiable. The familiar-food example explains why people may value certainty, while the discussion of adventurous travel links new experiences to learning and independence. These are relevant reasons, but they are not developed equally: the restaurant example focuses mainly on avoiding an unpleasant meal, and the travel example makes broad claims about survival skills without a specific illustration. Your opinion is also somewhat general, particularly in “you definitely learn,” which does not explain how the benefits outweigh the risks. To strengthen the response further, extend each main reason with a concrete example and explain more precisely why you favour one attitude overall.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, your opinion, and a conclusion. The progression from familiar choices to new experiences is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other side,” and “In conclusion” help readers navigate the argument. This logical organisation is a strength. However, some linking is mechanical, and the opinion paragraph repeats points already made rather than developing the comparison. Connections within sentences can also be unclear, especially in the long restaurant example and the sentence beginning “In my opinion.” Use referencing and transitions more selectively, and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit. This would make the progression smoother and less repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “security,” “certainty,” “adventurous,” “independent,” and “personality,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. Examples include “concede to trying,” “meet their tongue taste,” “invest on those dishes,” and “sense of achievements.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “bpoth,” “explaing,” “achivements,” and “cahnces.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling; for example, say “try a new dish,” “suit their taste,” and “gain a sense of achievement.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “new things that not only give them new vision but also develop new skills” and a conditional example beginning “if someone went…”. However, control is limited, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries occur often enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For instance, “it provide them security” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “if someone went in a restaurant and try make mind” combines inconsistent verb forms and an incomplete construction. The final opinion sentence also joins clauses unclearly, with a comma before “It does not matter.” Practise building accurate sentences first, then add subordinate clauses; check agreement, tense consistency, articles, and punctuation when editing.
