Student answer (Band 6.0)

There has been an ongoing debate about doing things in their daily routine whether new or existed. Some individuals believe that they prefer experiencing new activities such as exploring the new places and variety of cuisines, whereas other arugue that stick to same thing make more comfortable. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.

On the one hand, proponents of exploring new things argue that they like to practice on variety of activities that help them to grow worldwide. For example, when we visit another place, it enhances our knowledge about place and their history. Additionally, people can get more information about job opportunities and how they do their work. As a result, we can adopt new methods in our working life that would be helpful in getting better achievements.

On the contrary, others believe in continuing the same things they known from long time because it is more comfortable. Individual can give their best if they have enough experience and information about something. Moreover, people already know about materials and ways of doing things; therefore, they do not worry about this system. People just have to concentrate on their achievements.

In conclusion, while both views have their own merits, I believe that experimenting new and modern things help us to stay active in modern era as it is more practical and beneficial in the long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both attitudes and give a clear opinion in the conclusion: you value trying new things because it is “more practical and beneficial in the long run.” The examples about learning a place’s history and gaining knowledge of work practices are relevant, but the links to the main topic are not always fully explained, and the benefits of familiarity are mostly asserted rather than illustrated. The introduction also promises a discussion, but the response’s ideas remain fairly general. The response is 19 words below the required minimum, so it has less space to develop and support its points. To strengthen the answer, explain each benefit with a specific example and extend the discussion of why familiar routines can be valuable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from “On the one hand” to “On the contrary” makes the contrast easy to follow, and “Additionally” and “As a result” help connect supporting points. This coherent organisation meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger control. However, a few links feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is sometimes unclear—for example, the move from visiting another place to learning about job opportunities. Use more precise transitions and make the connection between each example and its supporting claim explicit. The conclusion also repeats the general position rather than drawing together the main reasons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate both perspectives, including “variety of cuisines,” “job opportunities,” “experience,” and “achievements.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “proponents” and “in the long run.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make the writing less clear, including “grow worldwide,” “practice on variety of activities,” and “experimenting new and modern things.” The spelling error “arugue” is noticeable, and “same thing” is repeated in a basic way. Aim for more natural collocations and check word forms and spelling. More precise vocabulary would help express the benefits of novelty and familiarity without relying on broad terms such as “things.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “activities that help them to grow worldwide” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” Most ideas remain understandable, but errors occur across sentence patterns and sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “other arugue that stick to same thing make more comfortable” has problems with the subject, verb form, and article use; “the same things they known from long time” also has an incomplete verb construction. There are further agreement and article issues in “Individual can give their best” and “experimenting … things help us.” Practise building accurate clauses first, then check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms in longer sentences.
