Student answer (Band 6.0)

The topic of experiencing new things in life has become increasingly contentious, particularly these days. While there are those who prefer experencing new things, such as exploring new places and trying different cuisines, others enjoy following things with which they are acquinted. I will disuss both the viewpoints and give my own opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.

From one perspective, visiting new places and trying different foods help people to explore more. It makes people familiar with different cultures give them a better understanding of their lives. It also gives them an opprtunity to see the world from a broader spectrum and have different point of views. For example, a person who has visited to different countries can have better understanding of people living in extreme conditions and their reason of having a completely different lifestyle.

By contrast, people who are doing the things that they are already familiar with, keeps themselves limited to certain things only. Their chances of growth are very limited. Its very hard for them to understand other people's opinions. Not only this, but they also find it harder to adjust with others because of being restricted to only few things that they are used to.

From my perspective, having always been open to try new things helps people to grow in. a positive way. It gives people new and exciting experiences each time they try different activites. While other people who always stick to a particular place do not get exposure to various experiences and limit their knowledge. Therefore, I strong believe that its very crucial to visit different plaes and experience their culture and food.

In conclusion, one should always be experencing new things instead of limiting themselves to particular things that they are already familiar with because this can help them to enrich their knowledge and have thrilling experiences as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both attitudes and state a clear preference for trying new things, especially in the final two paragraphs. Relevant reasons include learning about other cultures, gaining broader perspectives, and having new experiences. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits of exploration are explained with an example, while the case for familiar routines is mostly presented as a list of disadvantages, such as limited growth and difficulty adjusting. Some claims, including that familiar habits restrict people’s understanding, would be stronger with explanation or a concrete example. Develop both sides more evenly and make your supporting examples more specific to show why people may value familiarity as well as novelty.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, your opinion, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “From one perspective,” “By contrast,” and “In conclusion” help readers see the shifts in argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, links between ideas within paragraphs are sometimes mechanical, and a few references are unclear—for example, “It” in “It makes people familiar with different cultures” does not clearly identify what is doing this. Use more precise referencing and connect reasons to examples rather than relying mainly on transition phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “different cuisines,” “broader spectrum,” “exposure,” and “enrich their knowledge,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural: “a broader spectrum” is not the most natural phrase for perspectives, and “grow in a positive way” is awkward. Spelling errors such as “experencing,” “acquinted,” “opprtunity,” and “plaes” are noticeable, while repeated use of “different,” “things,” and “people” limits precision. Choose more natural collocations, check spelling carefully, and vary repeated general words to make the vocabulary more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including contrast clauses with “While” and “because” and the emphatic structure “Not only this, but…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “It makes people familiar with different cultures give them…” needs a clearer clause connection, and “people … keeps themselves limited” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “a person who has visited to different countries,” the verb pattern and article use need correction; “having always been open to try” also uses an incorrect verb pattern. Review agreement, verb complements, and sentence boundaries, then proofread punctuation, particularly the stray full stop in “grow in. a positive way.”
