Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people like to try different things such as visit places and different types of food, whereas others prefer to keep doing things they are know about it. I will discuss both views in the upcoming paragraphs and explain my opinion.
Some people prefer to try new things such as visit new places and try different food because they want to explore new cultures and increase more knowledge as well as gain experience. Additionally, these type of people are very curious to know about different traditions of other cultures and food. For example, when they visit new places they talk with local people and know about their languages as well as food which reflect their nationality. So, people prefer to explore different places and food of other cities and countries.
However, some individuals like to try same things becuase of their comfort. They do not prefer to try different things such as visit places and types of food because of their comfot zone they like to try same things again becuase they know already about it. Moreover, some people feel comfortable with their daily routines and are afraid of trying something unfamiliar as well as they may worry that they will not enjoy the experience. Apart from this, they feel nervous when they enter unfamiliar environments, especially when they travel alone or cannot speak the local language. Therefore, they do not like to explore new things.
In my opinion, people should explore different things such as types of food and new places to visit because they can enhance their knowledge and confidence. For instance, when they travel other country or city they learn a new language and explore different cultuers and traditions which boost their experience and confidence. Also, trying unfamiliar foods and activities gives people exciting experiences and create lasting memories. Experiencing different cultures helps people become more accepting of other's opinions and traditions.
In conclusion, although some poeple prefer to stay in their comfort zone, exploring new places and trying different food can broaden their horizones, increase their knowledge, and help them become more open-minded. Therefore, people should be encouraged to embrace new experiences and enjoy the opportunities they offer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both attitudes and gives a clear, consistent opinion in favour of trying new experiences. The reasons are relevant: curiosity and learning are linked to exploring, while comfort, routine, and anxiety explain why others prefer familiar activities. Examples such as speaking with local people and feeling nervous when travelling alone help support these points. The conclusion also restates the position and summarises its benefits. To strengthen the response further, develop the contrast between the two groups more precisely and extend one example with a specific situation or outcome. Some claims, such as travel helping people learn a new language, are broad and would be more convincing if qualified or illustrated in greater detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each attitude, a paragraph stating your view, and a conclusion. Ideas progress logically, and signposts such as “Additionally,” “However,” and “In conclusion” make the stages easy to follow. Within paragraphs, supporting details generally relate to the main point. At times, however, the linking is somewhat repetitive, particularly the repeated references to exploring places and food, and several sentences begin with similar explanatory transitions. The first paragraph also promises a discussion without previewing the main contrast. To improve, use more varied referencing and connect examples directly to the claim they support, so cohesion feels less formulaic while preserving the clear progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the topic and includes some useful expressions, such as “unfamiliar environments,” “lasting memories,” “traditions,” and “open-minded.” However, the range is limited by repeated wording around “different things,” “new places,” and “food,” and several choices or collocations are inaccurate. For example, “increase more knowledge” is not natural, “these type of people” has an incorrect form, and “comfot zone” and “cultuers” contain spelling errors. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main ideas, but they reduce precision and fluency. Build a wider set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully; this would make the discussion more flexible and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “although,” and most ideas remain understandable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors recur in agreement, verb patterns, and sentence construction. Examples include “they are know about it,” “these type of people are,” and “trying unfamiliar foods and activities gives people exciting experiences and create lasting memories.” The sentence beginning “They do not prefer to try different things” also becomes difficult to follow because several reasons are joined together without clear grammatical control. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, infinitive and gerund patterns, and sentence boundaries. Editing each sentence for one clear main clause will help you use complex forms more reliably.
