Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, people have different attitudes to trying new things. Some people are willing to explore new things, while others prefer to do the same things they are familiar with. This essay will discuss both views. In my opinion , trying new experiments are more beneficial as it helps to gain new experiences.
On the one hand, some people prefer to do the familiar activities because they feel more comfort able and safe.Firstly, they know what tod do and where to go.Fo instance, many people prefer teh same hotel beacuse they satisfied with the food and customer service. Moreover, trying something new will make them confused and will be expensive. So, sticking to familiar things will be less expensive and stressless.
On the other hand, exploring new activities has several advantages.Firstly, it allows people to gain new experiences and leran new cultures. For instance, travelling to a new country will help people to meet new people, taste different foods and understand local languages.Furthermore, trying unfamiliar activities can improve confidence and courage. For example, learning a new sport may be challenging at first, but it can improve both physical and self-confidence.I believe that these experiences are more important for personal growth.
In conclusion, although familiar activities can provide comfort and safety, trying new things offers more opportunities for learning and personal growth.Hence, In my opinion people should explore new things because it can make their life more beautiful.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both attitudes and state a consistent preference for trying new things. The familiar-side paragraph gives relevant reasons—comfort, safety, and lower expense—and the examples of choosing the same hotel and learning a sport help illustrate the discussion. Your view that new experiences support personal growth is also clear. This meets the task well, but some ideas are less fully developed: for example, the claim that unfamiliar activities can be expensive is not explained or supported, and the benefits of learning about other cultures could be linked more directly to your own opinion. The response is 21 words below the required minimum, so add a little relevant explanation or a further example to develop the ideas more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each attitude, and a conclusion. The progression from the reasons for preferring familiar activities to the advantages of exploration is easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” effectively. To make the organisation more flexible and polished, avoid relying so heavily on “Firstly” and “Moreover,” and connect some examples more explicitly to the point they support. For instance, after the hotel example, explain how familiarity reduces uncertainty or stress. There are also missing spaces after some full stops, which interrupt the visual flow, though the overall progression remains clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic and convey the main ideas, including “familiar activities,” “local languages,” “confidence,” and “personal growth.” Some attempts at more specific language are useful, but several spelling errors and awkward word choices reduce precision: “comfort able,” “teh,” “beacuse,” and “leran” should be corrected, while “new experiments” is not a natural phrase for trying activities. Expressions such as “stressless” and “make their life more beautiful” are also imprecise in this context. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for travel, food, and personal development, and proofread spelling carefully. This would make your vocabulary more natural and allow you to express the ideas with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including a contrast clause (“although familiar activities can provide comfort and safety”) and a relative clause (“activities they are familiar with”). Most of the meaning is clear, but some grammatical errors remain. In the introduction, “trying new experiments are” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “as it helps” does not agree with the plural idea of trying new things. The sentence “they satisfied with the food” is missing the verb “are,” while “it can improve both physical and self-confidence” has an unclear parallel structure. Review agreement, omitted verbs, and balanced constructions. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen an otherwise understandable range of sentence forms.
