Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, exploring new culture and history have become popular in the world. While some people like to explore innovative things such as different types of cuisine and places to visit, others prefer to do same thing rather than something new. In my opinion, people should try new things as they can learn new culture and different food.

On the one hand, people who like to try new things that make them happy and sense of achievement. By travelling to different places people can learn other places culture, language, history and food. This is because of their interest and to gain experience of other places. Although it does not always make them happy as they used to their own culture, it gives them satisfaction that they tries something different. For example, many people travel to bali from india to learn about their culture and try different types of food. In addition to this, many people try to travel different places for atmosphere as people are working hard and they want something different than usual which is why they travel to find peace and relaxation from their daily life. Therefore, trying new things make them sense of satisfaction as well as relaxation.

On the other hand, some people stick to their daily lifestyle rather than trying something new. One main reason is adaptation, many old people find difficulty in trying something different so they stick to their same routine. Also, travelling to familiar places can make memories and bonding with that particular place, while new things take time to adjust. For instance, many people try to eat same style food everyday due to their strict diet restriction and satisafaction. Hence, doig familiar things make strong relationship as well as some find challenging to adapt new things.

In conclusion, many people try new cuisine and travel different places to enhance their knowledge and explore new culture although others prefer to do familiar things as they cannot adapt new atmosphere. I believe that people should try new things this can help them to understand others culture and history and gain sense of achievement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both attitudes and state a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion: you favour trying new things because it can broaden cultural understanding and provide a sense of achievement. The discussion of travel, food and relaxation is relevant, and the Bali example gives one point some support. The explanation of why people prefer familiar routines is also present, particularly the reference to older people and dietary restrictions. However, this side is less fully developed: the point about familiar places creating “memories and bonding” could be explained with a specific example, and the diet example does not clearly show why familiarity itself is preferred. Your position is clear, but developing these ideas more precisely would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for each attitude, and a conclusion that restates your view. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. There is also a generally logical progression from reasons to examples. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Although it does not always make them happy as they used to their own culture” is difficult to connect to the preceding point, and “Hence” introduces a conclusion that does not fully follow from the diet example. Use clearer references and make each sentence’s relationship to the previous one explicit. This would strengthen the progression and make cohesion feel less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss travel, food and cultural experience, including “cuisine,” “adaptation,” “strict diet restriction,” and “sense of achievement.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic statements. However, the range is uneven, and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision: “exploring new culture,” “other places culture,” and “travel to bali” are not expressed naturally, while “satisafaction” and “doig” are misspelled. Repetition of “new things,” “different,” and “people” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling, while varying repeated terms with accurate alternatives. More precise vocabulary would help communicate your ideas smoothly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, using clauses with “while,” “although,” “because,” and “which is why.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction recur. For example, “exploring new culture and history have become” has a subject–verb agreement problem; “people who like to try new things that make them happy” is structurally incomplete; and “it gives them satisfaction that they tries” contains an incorrect verb form. The final sentence also joins two ideas without a clear grammatical link. Review sentence boundaries and check that subjects, verbs and articles agree. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences clearer.
