Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary world, people have distinct attitude towards life. some people love to explore new things such as visting new places and try wide variety of food. while others adores to keep the familiar things are they find those things comfortable and give them peace of mind. In this essay, I will discuss both the views and share my opinion.

To commence with, people who like trying new things often gain valuable experiences and broaden their understanding of the world. Travelling to new places allows individuals to learn about different cultures, traditions and lifestyle. Similarly, experiments with unfamiliar food introduce us to different flavours and cooking styles. For example, a person who travel more often gain more knowledge about that place, their culture, lifestyle, savour dishes. Moreover, these experiences can make life more exciting and help people develop confidence and adaptability.

On the other hand, many people prefer doing similar things such as selecting holiday destination, staying venue, tourits sport and food as they provide comfort, stability, and a sense of security. sticking to one place reduce uncertainity and helps individual to reduce unnecessay risks. To exemplify this, person who is familiar to every route and nearby hospitality always use the same route or destination for vacation, reason of chosing this is because, it provides relaxing atmosphere without the stress of planning something new. In addition to this, many families choose to visit the same vacation spot every year because it offers pleasant memories.

In conclusion, some people prefer to keep doing similar things as they provide a kind of security and comfort and make them stress free for last moment changes. However, I strongly believe that people who like trying new things often gain valuable life experiences and their capability to undrestand different culture and cooking style become broader.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both attitudes and give a clear personal view: the body paragraphs explain the benefits of novelty and familiarity, and the conclusion states that you favour trying new things. Relevant support includes learning about cultures through travel and families returning to a holiday spot for pleasant memories. This meets the task well, but the development is uneven. The advantages of new experiences are explained more fully, while the familiar-routine argument relies mainly on comfort, security and reduced stress. Some examples, such as “a person who travel more often,” are broad rather than specific. To strengthen the response further, explain the consequences of each attitude in more depth and use a concrete example to show why your preferred approach is valuable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each attitude, and a conclusion that returns to your opinion. The progression from the benefits of exploration to the appeal of familiarity is easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. Some connections are less smooth because sentences contain unclear or awkwardly arranged information, particularly the example beginning “To exemplify this, person who is familiar…” The conclusion also repeats points from the body rather than drawing them together. Aim to make each example’s link to its main point explicit, and use referencing and transitions naturally rather than relying on formulaic openings.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “broaden their understanding,” “stability,” “sense of security,” “adaptability,” and “pleasant memories.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic terms. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make meaning less clear: “visting,” “uncertainity,” “undrestand,” “tourits sport,” and “staying venue” are examples. Phrases such as “experiments with unfamiliar food” and “reduce unnecessary risks” also need more natural wording in context. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, especially for travel and food. More precise phrasing will help you communicate your ideas without the reader having to infer what you mean.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “because,” and “who,” and most of the main ideas remain understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation persist. For example, “people who travel more often gain” shifts awkwardly into “their culture,” while “sticking to one place reduce” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening also has sentence-boundary and capitalisation problems: “life. some people…” and “food. while others…”. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent agreement, and correct sentence boundaries. Greater control of these patterns would make your varied structures more reliable.
