Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary society, some people like to try new things such as places to visit and trying to various types of food. Meanwhile, other people prefer to keep doing things they are familiar with. From my perspective, both aspects are beneficial for keeping the happiness in life.

This essay will explicate both of these attitudes and present my opinion in the upcoming paragraphs along with relevant examples.

On the one hand, there are several arguments regarding individuals love to try new things. One of the crucial arguement is that some people have a dream or wish to travel to new places and try international food. To elucidate, an individual can learn about the different cultures and rituals. Furthermore, people who loves to visit new places can get more knowlegde about the other communities. They can enhance their own lifestyle by seeing the struggle of the inhabitants of other countries. To exemplify, some youtubers in India are always visiting the place namely, Uganda, which is nearby Africa. The inhabitants in this place are very ancient. Youtubers and their audiences are able to learn from their lifestyle. Some people get happiness by seeing this type of tribal people and new places.

On the other hand, there are certain arguments regarding the people prefer to do familiar things. One of them is that some people do not want to come out from their comfort zone. To elaborate, some individuals do not prefer to do different things because familiar things can get them more happier. In addition to this, they follow their own lifestyle and their schedules are fixed. Some people do not want to try other food. They always loves to eat their authentic food. To illustrate, my friend always loves to eat authentic biryani. If they visit another place then also she do not want to try different variety of food. She gets happiness with familiar things.

To recapitulate, there are some arguments for both aspects, while I believe that there should be a balance approach as both the things can give happiness.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both attitudes and give a clear personal view: the introduction says both can contribute to happiness, and the conclusion recommends balance. The examples of learning about other cultures and your friend preferring biryani are relevant and help illustrate each side. However, the discussion is not equally developed. The benefits of familiarity are explained mainly through comfort, routine and food preference, while the first side’s claims about learning from other communities are broad and the Uganda example is not clearly connected to a specific lesson or benefit. Develop each main reason with a more precise explanation and example, and make your balanced position more specific—for instance, when trying new experiences is valuable and when familiar routines matter. This would make the response more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each attitude, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To recapitulate” make the progression easy to follow, and ideas within each body paragraph generally relate to its main point. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. At times, however, the linking feels formulaic, with repeated phrases such as “To elucidate,” “To elaborate,” and “To illustrate.” Some references are also unclear, particularly “The inhabitants in this place” after the Uganda example and “If they visit another place” when discussing your friend. Use fewer stock transitions and make pronouns and references explicit to strengthen flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including phrases such as “comfort zone,” “different cultures,” “authentic food,” and “fixed” schedules. These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common vocabulary. However, several word choices, collocations and spelling forms are inaccurate or unnatural: “keep the happiness in life,” “get more knowledge,” “more happier,” and “the place namely, Uganda” do not sound idiomatic. There are also spelling errors such as “arguement” and “knowlegde.” These rarely prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Focus on common collocations and check spelling; for example, say “find happiness in life,” “gain knowledge,” and “feel happier.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “while,” and “if,” and the overall meaning remains clear. Some sentences are accurately formed, such as “They follow their own lifestyle and their schedules are fixed.” However, there are some recurring errors in agreement, verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “people who loves” should be “people who love,” “They always loves” should be “They always love,” and “she do not want” should be “she does not want.” The phrase “there are certain arguments regarding the people prefer” also needs a grammatical link, such as “arguments for why people prefer.” Review subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences with a clear main clause; this will improve accuracy while preserving your range.
