Student answer (Band 6.0)
Experimenting is part of life. However, some people love to experiment, while others resists to try unfamiliar things. This essay will discuss both the attitudes and argue that trying out something new brings joy and learning and it is predominantly positive.
When an individual try out a new thing, they tend to learn from it. For example, attempting a pottery class for the first time will bring excitment and joy. This helps a person learn new skills while experimenting on something new. Likewise, it helps in gaining knowledge. people those who have a habit of learning skills will gain awareness on a variety of practical they do such as trying out different types of food. It helps people learn about the culture, it originated from.
On the other hand, the ones that resist in trying out something new have a fear of failure. For example, people investing in mutual funds might have faced a financial loss and this may have affected their mental health. Therefore, in order to be stress free, they tend to stay away from trying out new things. Additionally, some people have a habit of living in their comfort zone. Experimenting for them is a messy process and they do not like to get involved in it. Peace and harmony is what they focus on and therefore, it is not a cup of tea for them to do things out of the box.
To conclude, trying something interesting brings joy and helps in acquiring knowledge on unfamiliar subjects. However, one must acknowledge that familiar things bring peace and calmness.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both attitudes and state a clear preference for trying new things, describing this as a source of “joy and learning.” The examples of a pottery class and trying different foods support the positive side, while fear of financial loss and comfort-zone habits explain why some people prefer familiarity. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits of learning are explained more clearly than the reasons for valuing familiar routines, and the mutual-funds example is not fully connected to trying new places or foods. The conclusion acknowledges both sides but does not develop when familiarity might be preferable. To strengthen the response, explain each attitude more fully and link examples directly to the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand,” “Additionally,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow, and the main position is apparent. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, several links are mechanical, and some references are unclear: “This helps a person” could refer to the pottery class or the experience more generally, while “It helps people learn about the culture” has an uncertain antecedent. The sentence beginning “people those who…” also interrupts the flow. Use clearer referencing and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including “unfamiliar,” “financial loss,” “comfort zone,” and “acquiring knowledge.” These choices help communicate the contrast between novelty and familiarity, and the meaning remains clear despite some inaccurate or awkward expressions. There are attempts at less common phrasing, such as “out of the box,” but “do things out of the box” is not a natural fit here; “try unconventional activities” would be clearer. Other choices, including “experimenting on something new” and “a variety of practical they do,” are imprecise or incomplete. Check spelling as well: “excitment” should be “excitement.” Aim for more precise collocations and avoid repeating “new things” when a specific alternative is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses: “When an individual try out a new thing, they tend to learn from it” and “in order to be stress free, they tend to stay away…” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “some people…resists” and “When an individual try”; the latter should be “tries.” The construction “people those who have a habit” is also faulty, and “Peace and harmony is” needs plural agreement (“are”). There are some sentence-boundary and capitalisation issues, such as “people” after a full stop. Review agreement and clause construction, then proofread punctuation and sentence openings.
