Student answer (Band 6.0)

In nature, we notice that not every person is of same habits, everyone has different taste, either its music, food, outing or any other thing. Same goes with interests, some people like to try new things, for example, places to visit and types of food other people prefer to keep doing things they are familiar with. So we cannot blame anyone, its just human nature.

Some people are comfortable in their own private space while some mingle around i different people and there is nothing wrong in it. Everyone's privacy and interests are equally important and there is nothing wrong in that. But i feel like one should try explore new places and new food. You get to learn a lot about different cultures, people, traditions, values and over all it adds to your knowledge and widens your perspective and your way of thinking.

For example, living in Pakistan if i talk about my wife and I, we are both from different caste (which is not very common but is changing according to time). We donot have same family traditions and stuff but we respect each other's values and traditions. And if we talk about food, we are totally opposite, I am more of a desi person, while she likes to eat eastern. Its not like we just stick to what we like, its this that we respect each other's choices and try different food and places that we both like. Doing this, we get to know about each other better and it makes our respect more in our partner's life.

So, conluding this, I feel like we should try and experience different types of places and foods because in this time of the world change is really important. Everyone's so stressed in his/her life, so, a little change can make things easy, try different types of food, visit different places, meet new people, learn about their traditions, it will help you keep your mental state healthy and you get to learn new things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both attitudes by noting that some people prefer familiar routines while others enjoy new places and food, and your own view—that people should try new experiences—is clear. The personal example about you and your wife respecting different traditions and food preferences is relevant and helps explain your position. However, the discussion of why people choose familiarity is brief: “comfortable in their own private space” is mentioned but not developed with a reason or example. Your benefits of trying new things, such as learning about cultures and gaining perspective, are more fully explained, though the final claim that change helps maintain mental health would benefit from clearer support. Develop both sides more evenly and connect examples directly to the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the two attitudes and your view, a personal example, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from differing preferences to the benefits of trying new experiences. Linking phrases such as “For example” and “So, concluding this” help signal the stages of the response. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or unclear. The opening repeats much of the task, and several ideas are joined in long sentences with commas, making their relationships harder to follow. In the personal example, the shift from cultural differences to food preferences could be signposted more clearly. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more precise references to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “traditions,” “values,” “perspective,” and “familiar,” which allows you to discuss both personal preferences and cultural learning. Some phrases also convey your meaning effectively, such as “widens your perspective.” However, word choice and collocation are sometimes inaccurate or informal: “different taste” would be more natural as “different tastes,” and “makes our respect more in our partner’s life” is unclear. There are also spelling errors, including “conluding” and “donot,” and imprecise expressions such as “eastern” for a type of food. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling; this will make your ideas clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “while,” “because,” and “if,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries. For example, “not every person is of same habits” needs an article and a more natural structure, while “Everyone’s so stressed in his/her life” has an unclear agreement pattern. Several comma splices occur, such as the opening sentence joining multiple independent ideas with commas. Capitalisation of “I” is also inconsistent. Practise separating complete ideas with full stops or semicolons, and check articles and subject–verb agreement. More accurate control of these structures would strengthen the response.
