Student answer (Band 6.0)
People has its own decisions in life. They may like to try something new like visiting new places and try some unfamiliar foods while others also prefer to keep doing thing they are familiar with.
Some people are curious and adventurous. They want to try new things, activities, foods that are unfamiliar to them. They really give their time to prepare lists and itinerary just for that. These are the people who wanted to enjoy their life by doing things that they like. For example, there is a newly opened fun park far from their city, but they still booked a ticket to go there just to try it even if it is very far.
Additionally, there are also people who is not much intrested in trying new things or activities. They just wanted to be comfortable with the decisions that they have and maybe they just don't want to waste their time. These people are those who are satisfied with their life. Just like my friend, she is not into doing new activities because she is not that patient to wait and dicover something new.
In my opinion, people have their own life. They can do things that they want. Just like me, I would say that I prefer to keep doing things that I am familiar with because I think it is more convenient and will not waste any of my time. However, sometimes I also wanted to do new things just to satisfy myself and open up a new opportunity for me.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both attitudes and give a personal view: you explain why some people seek unfamiliar experiences, why others prefer what they know, and state that you usually choose familiar activities while remaining open to new ones. The examples of the distant fun park and your friend make the discussion relevant. However, the reasons are often asserted rather than developed. For instance, saying adventurous people “want to enjoy their life” does not explain what they gain from novelty, and the friend example gives little detail about why familiarity matters to her. Your opinion is clear near the end, but could be established earlier and supported with a more specific reason or example. Develop the consequences and motivations behind each attitude more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each attitude, and a concluding paragraph with your opinion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and signposts such as “Additionally” and “In my opinion” help identify shifts. The progression is generally logical, with each paragraph focused on one main point. To make the organisation more effective, connect ideas within paragraphs more explicitly: the examples sometimes follow a general claim without showing precisely how they support it. Some linking is also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “These people” and “Just like.” Use a wider range of references and transitions, and make the relationship between each reason and example clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including relevant terms such as “curious,” “adventurous,” “familiar,” “convenient,” and “opportunity.” These choices help distinguish the two attitudes. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “give their time to prepare lists,” “satisfied with their life,” and “open up a new opportunity.” There are also spelling errors in “intrested” and “dicover,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and avoid repeating broad words such as “things” and “people.” For example, you could describe planning a trip, feeling content with a routine, or gaining new experiences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses with “because” and “even if,” and the main ideas remain understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction are noticeable. Examples include “People has its own decisions,” “people who is not much interested,” and “people who wanted to enjoy their life.” The sentence beginning “They really give their time…” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between its parts. There is some inconsistency in tense and number, and several sentences rely on similar basic patterns. Practise subject–verb agreement and consistent present-tense forms, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
