Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the book, explaining its influence, and discussing its potential impact on others. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, you mention the book is a 'family drama' and 'based on a true story,' but you do not provide the title or author, which would have made the response more engaging. The explanation of how it influenced you is personal and relevant, but the language used to describe the connection is repetitive. To improve, try to provide more specific details about the book's content and expand on the 'influence' aspect with more sophisticated reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'Thirdly' to structure your points. However, the flow between sentences is often mechanical, and the logical progression is sometimes hindered by short, choppy sentences. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'That way I like this book,' which does not effectively link back to the previous ideas. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that your sentences connect more smoothly to one another.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple descriptors like 'good,' 'bad,' and 'hard.' There are also several spelling errors, such as 'peaple' instead of 'people' and 'Becouse' instead of 'Because.' While your meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language. To improve, try to incorporate more descriptive adjectives and precise nouns related to literature and personal growth to demonstrate a broader range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly regarding verb tense, article usage, and sentence structure. For instance, you wrote 'My father have no money' (should be 'had') and 'I did very hard' (should be 'I worked very hard'). Many sentences are simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to cause difficulty and indicate a need for more focus on basic grammatical accuracy.
