Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to participate in the the article known as " The book that influenced me the most" by your company magazine. I read numerous books based on number of genre. Nowadays, the book which inspired me the most is ' The Last Queen' by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni.

It is a historical novel that tells about the true story if Maharani Jindan Kaur. She was the youngest and last queen of Punjab's king Maharaja Ranjit Singh. This novel tell her remarkable life from a common family oriented girl to queen of punjab who rebel fight the British Empire. It inspired me in term of women empowerment, her fearless leadership and her bond with her child.

I would like to recommend this book to everyone especially, young girls. It will encourage people to read about our rich history and how a women fearlessly can fight with an empire if it is about her family.

I hope you would include me recommendation in your magazine

Thank You

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the book, explaining its influence, and discussing its potential impact on others. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an editor. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention 'women empowerment' and 'fearless leadership,' these points could be expanded with more specific examples of how the book changed your perspective or daily life. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are fully developed rather than just stated. Overall, you have successfully completed the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Nowadays' and 'I would like to recommend,' which help the flow of the text. However, the transition between sentences could be smoother, and the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure is easy to follow, which is a positive aspect of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'historical novel,' 'remarkable,' and 'empowerment.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'participate in the the article' (should be 'contribute to') and 'rebel fight' (should be 'rebelled and fought'). Additionally, there are some minor spelling and punctuation slips, such as the double 'the' and inconsistent capitalisation. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring your vocabulary is used accurately in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'based on number of genre' (should be 'a number of genres') and 'how a women fearlessly can fight' (should be 'how a woman can fearlessly fight'). These errors do not generally impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct word order in complex sentences will help improve your accuracy.
