Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
I am writing this letter to express my interest about one book which i have recently read named "Everything is possible" by the writer John Robinson. I recently read this booked a week ago and found really motivating. This book is about a Man who was from a poor family, It tells about how he succeeded in his life by just one thing and that was by giving his best in every phase of his life.
After reading this book, I can surely say that this was my decision. This book really motivated me in a lot. Recently I have started to study for an examination and was not feeling my best. Since, I have read this book I feel as i have invested money I should be more focused and get good score.
Personally I have recommend this book to my friends and so far everyone is enjoying it. The story really boost the confidence, helps them to stay motivated in their goal and helps achieve dreams,
Thank you for my consideration, Please let me know if i can be of any assistance.
Thank you,
Kavisha

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the book, explaining its influence, and discussing its potential impact on others. However, the development is somewhat limited. The description of the book is quite brief, and the explanation of how it influenced you is a bit vague, relying on general statements like 'motivated me in a lot' rather than specific examples of how the content changed your perspective. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed illustrations of the book's impact on your personal life or mindset. The tone is appropriate for a magazine contribution, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some basic cohesive devices, such as 'After reading this book' and 'Personally', to connect your thoughts. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'this was my decision' is ambiguous in context). The transition between the description of the book and its influence could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'motivating', 'succeeded', and 'invested'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'I am writing this letter to express my interest about one book' (should be 'in a book') and 'I have recommend' (should be 'I have recommended'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that your word forms are grammatically correct in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('The story really boost'), article usage ('a Man', 'the writer'), and tense consistency ('Since, I have read this book I feel as i have invested'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit the score. You should proofread your work to correct basic errors in verb tense and capitalization, particularly with the pronoun 'I'.
