Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Sam and I am writing this letter to share my experience of reading a book by which I got influenced. And I would be more than happy if my story get coverage in the article.
The book I read named "Wings of Fire" written by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul kalam is a autobigraphy of him. In which has wrote the all incidence happend to him from childhood to becoming a scientist. Additionally, how he tried and kept his focus on his goals even though his family was struggling for food and moeny. His journey is a true example of dedication, resilience and hardwork.
The book makes readers to think about how hard life can be. However, it is totally depends on what choices a person make. I learned not to blame others for the our choices and it motivated me to learn about space science as Dr. A.P.J was a space scientist. The is incredable that it's story line and words are enough to influence the youth in positive manner. It leaves a long effect on readers mind.
I hope to hear from you and thanking you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Sam

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the book, explaining its influence, and discussing its potential impact on others. The response is relevant and maintains a consistent tone appropriate for a magazine contribution. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the book's influence on your interest in space science, this could be expanded further to show a deeper personal connection. The explanation of why it would influence others is also a bit brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more specific detail or illustrative examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'However' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the shift from discussing the book's content to its impact on the reader could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between sentences could be strengthened to improve the overall progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'resilience', 'dedication', and 'autobiography' correctly. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'incidence' instead of 'incidents', 'moeny' for 'money', and 'incredable' for 'incredible'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and sentence construction. Examples include 'by which I got influenced' (passive voice error), 'has wrote' (incorrect tense), and 'it is totally depends' (subject-verb agreement error). While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy of the text. Focusing on consistent verb tense usage and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score in this area.
