Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the book, explaining its influence, and discussing its potential impact on others. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that the book transformed your opinion on a balanced diet, the description of the book itself is quite vague—you do not provide a title or specific details about the author or the narrative. The ideas are relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples of how the book's content changed your perspective. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully developed with sufficient detail to engage the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate the introduction, the main body, and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition between the description of the book and the impact on your lifestyle could be smoother. There is a reliance on simple linking words like 'also' and 'because'. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of cohesive devices, such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition to this', to better connect your ideas and improve the flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'good initiative' and 'reliable information'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'recent published article' (should be 'recently published') and 'nutrition rich diet' (should be 'nutrient-rich'). While the meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat restricted. To achieve a higher score, aim to use more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of health and literature, rather than relying on general, everyday language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include 'I read this article few days back' (missing 'a'), 'it will motivate to thousands people' (incorrect preposition and article usage), and 'I really appreciate for publishing a good content' (incorrect verb-preposition collocation). Punctuation is generally correct, but the sentence variety is limited. To improve, focus on using a wider range of complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses or relative clauses, and pay closer attention to small grammatical details like articles and prepositions.
