Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to give my feedback that you were asking for your article 'The book that influenced me most'.
Last week, I read your article that was about the guy who was struggling in life to achieve his goals. Undoubtedly, each and every aspects of his journey was well written. Especially, one part that inspire me most is that where he became disappointed by his low grades in college and suddenly, he again boost his confidence due to inspiration given by his mother.
Nevertheless, this part was a game changer for me because I am facing same difficulties in my student life. I avery inspired by his mother's sentence that was 'a person should compete till his last breath because life can not be ended due to just one failure'.
However, this book would definitely motivate other people who are facing failures and disappoints in any area of life. Moreover, it also encourage people to give their best without being fear of any disappointment.
I hope you consider my feedback in a good manner. I am looking forward more inspirational stories from you.
Thank you
Yours sincerely

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the book, explaining its influence, and discussing its potential impact on others. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, you mention the book's plot briefly but do not name the book, which makes the description feel generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are more detailed and specific. While you have covered the requirements, the lack of depth in your personal reflection prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate the different points of the prompt. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Nevertheless, this part was a game changer' and 'However, this book would definitely...'. Some sentences feel disconnected, and the flow between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used in the correct context will help improve the overall cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using more descriptive language, such as 'game changer' and 'struggling in life'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'each and every aspects' (should be 'aspect') and 'without being fear of' (should be 'without fear of'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on correct collocations and word forms will be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I am writing to give my feedback that you were asking for' (awkward phrasing), 'one part that inspire me' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'I avery inspired' (likely a typo for 'am very'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency.
