Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all three bullet points, though the development is somewhat limited. You describe the book's content regarding the life of the Prophet and explain its influence on your perspective regarding women's rights and personal sacrifice. However, the explanation of why it would influence others is slightly underdeveloped and repetitive. The tone is more of a suggestion to the editor rather than a personal letter describing a book that influenced you. To improve, ensure you focus more on the personal impact the book had on your own life and development, rather than focusing primarily on the historical content of the book itself.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. The text is presented as a single block, whereas a formal letter should be divided into an introduction, body paragraphs for each bullet point, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused; for example, the transition 'so in my opinion' is used to connect unrelated ideas. To reach a higher band, you must use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') and organize your response into distinct paragraphs to guide the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat basic and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'infulence' instead of 'influence', 'inclsude' for 'include', and 'legel' for 'legal'. There is also a reliance on specific religious terminology without sufficient explanation or variety in word choice. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the errors in spelling and word formation are noticeable. To improve, focus on using more precise adjectives and verbs to describe the impact of the book, and ensure you proofread for common spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'women abandoned by their own family'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of periods and the use of capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practicing the correct use of articles and verb tenses.
