Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly identify the book, explain its influence on your decision-making, and provide an opinion on its potential impact on others. The tone is appropriate for a magazine contribution. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the description of the book's plot is vague, referring only to 'common faulty human' actions without specific examples. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete details about the narrative or specific themes to better engage the reader. The response is fully relevant, but the depth of explanation could be improved to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'After reading it' and 'even though', to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'I am writing to you with regard to providing feedback about a book that influenced a lot to me'. The use of transition words is somewhat mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renowned', 'significant impact', and 'uncertainty'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'influenced a lot to me' (should be 'influenced me greatly') and 'faulty human can do' (should be 'mistakes humans can make'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms for basic verbs and adjectives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and word forms, such as 'I have understand' (should be 'I have understood') and 'writer also explained the remedies how to come out' (should be 'the writer also explains how to overcome'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are slightly run-on or lack necessary articles. To progress, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of complex sentence structures, ensuring that your grammar remains accurate even when attempting more sophisticated syntax.
