Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter regarding the book that left an impression on my mind.
The book i read last month named "butterfly" was too interesting. I purchased this book from a website named coco.com. I am oblivious about it's availability in offline stores. This is a well written novel by author named Pinky Dhaliwal.
This book showed a contrast between lifestyles of rich and poor people and on the other half of a book they demonstrated the difference between educated individuals and non educated people. This book made me think that not always generous people are rich. However, those who don't have access to multiple resources are always the one with the unwavering enthusiasm and kindness.
This book would be beneficial to all the younger generation as this book taught the real verse of what richness should look alike and how education change's perspective of others about you.
I would definitely recommend everyone to read this book once in there life.
Thankyou for this opportunity.
Yours Faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the book, explain its influence on your perspective regarding wealth and education, and provide a recommendation for others. The tone is appropriate for a magazine contribution. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of how the book influenced you could be more detailed to show a deeper personal connection. To improve, try to provide a specific example or a more profound reflection on how your thinking shifted after reading the book, rather than just stating that it made you think.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'This book', which help the flow of information. However, the paragraphing is a bit disjointed, and some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly, and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed theme to improve the overall progression of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'oblivious', 'unwavering', and 'perspective'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'what richness should look alike' (should be 'look like') and 'on the other half of a book' (should be 'in the second half of the book'). Additionally, there are minor errors in punctuation and capitalization, such as the lowercase 'i' and the unnecessary apostrophe in 'change's'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise descriptive terms would enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('education change's perspective') and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with apostrophes and capitalization. To improve, focus on proofreading for common errors such as possessives versus contractions and ensure that your verb forms consistently match the subject. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
