Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the book, explaining its influence, and discussing its potential impact on others. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the book is vague, referring to 'the one person' without providing a title or specific plot details. The explanation of how it influenced you is repetitive, focusing generally on 'motivation' rather than specific life changes. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete examples and elaborate on your personal connection to the story to ensure the ideas are fully developed rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, and you have used some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical and does not always flow naturally. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as the final sentence of the second paragraph, which uses 'etc.' in a way that is not appropriate for a formal letter. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'motivation', 'background', and 'character'. However, there is a lack of variety, and some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'express my happiness to read' or 'relate this story'. You also rely on basic phrasing to describe the book's impact. To improve, try to incorporate more precise adjectives and collocations that reflect a more sophisticated level of English, rather than repeating simple terms like 'work hard' or 'good'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include incorrect article usage (e.g., 'from poor family background'), subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'which suffer from'), and prepositional errors (e.g., 'Thank you so much to write'). Additionally, there are punctuation and capitalization slips, such as the lowercase 'i' when referring to yourself. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
