Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my feelings through words after reading your book called 'The book that influenced me most.' It was amazing book which I ever read because it relates with my situation.
The book contains various significant articles that are relatable for people's daily situations that they might be facing. The book explains many aspects, such as how people can handle mental stress and how people can feel stress-free. These are articles that influenced me after reading very precisely because this book presented each situation point to point.
When I started reading the book, I felt very focused, and after reading consistently, I felt very relatable because I also try to learn how I can stay motivated even in hard situations, and this book gave me solutions to overcome those types of situations.
I believe this book can influence people easily because it includes not only important content but also is very similar to people's daily situations, which they might compare with their lives.
I hope you will like my compliments about your book.
Yours faithfully,
Nishu Agrawal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You described the book's content regarding mental stress, explained its personal influence on your motivation, and provided a clear opinion on its potential to influence others. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the mention of 'daily situations' appears in almost every paragraph. To improve, try to provide a more specific example of a particular chapter or concept from the book to make your response more engaging and fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'When I started', 'after reading', and 'I believe'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more sophisticated. The transition between the description of the book and your personal experience is a bit abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition to this') would help improve the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning clearly. Words like 'significant', 'motivated', and 'consistently' are used correctly. However, there is a reliance on simple or repetitive phrasing, such as 'relatable' and 'situations', which appear multiple times. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise synonyms and collocations. For example, instead of saying 'it relates with my situation', you could say 'it resonates with my personal experiences'. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'It was amazing book which I ever read' should be 'It was the most amazing book I have ever read'. Additionally, 'these are articles that influenced me after reading very precisely' is awkward and grammatically unclear. You have good control over basic structures, but errors in article usage and sentence construction persist. Increasing your use of error-free complex sentences will help improve your score in this criterion.
