Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the book, explaining its influence, and discussing its potential impact on others. Your ideas are relevant and clearly stated. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the Mahabharata, the description of the plot is quite brief and contains some inaccuracies (e.g., the war lasted 18 days, not 14). To improve, try to expand on your personal reflections with more specific examples of how the book changed your perspective. The tone is appropriate for a magazine contribution, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction to the description, the personal impact, and finally the recommendation. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'consequently' and 'not only... but also'. However, the paragraphing is inconsistent, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, such as the jump from the plot description to your personal childhood interest. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus to improve the overall flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'mythological', 'eternal', 'ecstatic', and 'miserable'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'request I would like to share' and 'ecstatic and miserable movements' (where 'moments' was likely intended). There are also some spelling errors, such as 'mytholgical' and 'stroy'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for minor spelling slips. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise adjectives and adverbs would also help convey your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this is one of my favorite book'), incorrect preposition usage, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Those were I am putting into my daily life'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree. Reviewing the use of relative clauses and prepositions will also help you produce more accurate and complex sentences.
