Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing a letter to the magazine's editor to express my admiration for the book titled "The health is wealth". I really like the contents about prioritising health over everything else.
Talking about the book, I find it is fairly structured containing all the recent information an individual's should be aware concerning importance of diets and supplements and the major impact and repercussions due to poor diets including heart diseases, obesity, diabetes.
The book influenced me in several ways, the main highlight is the necessity of the routine and lifestyle changes. How deeply it acknowledege the essential high fiber low calories food which one particularly give much nutrition to the body. I was fasicinated with such information.
The book mentioned holistic approach towards health with facts which an social media platform with fradulent information is incomparable. Particularly it shows how wellness is imperative for all the age groups. And how different is the metabolism a body carries for each age group. So I think all individuals regardless of their age would probably love this book.
I hope to find more good reviews foir the best content.
best wishes

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. You described the book as being about prioritising health and diets, explained that it influenced you by highlighting the necessity of routine and lifestyle changes, and stated that it would likely appeal to people of all age groups. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive in places. For example, your description of the contents ('containing all the recent information an individual's should be aware concerning importance of diets') is slightly brief and lacks fully expanded explanation. Furthermore, the book title provided, 'The health is wealth', sounds a bit unnatural. Nevertheless, all parts of the task are addressed with a clear purpose and appropriate semi-formal tone for a magazine letter, leading to a solid performance for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a clear logical organization with an appropriate opening greeting and a polite sign-off. Paragraphing is utilized to separate the introduction, book description, personal influence, and potential impact on others. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'Talking about the book, I find it is fairly structured...' feels abrupt, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'How deeply it acknowledege the essential high fiber low calories food...' which lacks a main clause structure to connect it smoothly. Transitional devices are basic, but the overall progression of your thoughts remains understandable throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The lexical range is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas about health, diets, and lifestyle changes. You attempt some less common vocabulary such as 'holistic approach', 'repercussions', and 'metabolism', demonstrating a reasonable effort. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, including 'an individual's should be aware', 'acknowledege' (spelling error), 'high fiber low calories food', and 'fradulent information'. In addition, the phrase 'foir the best content' contains a typo. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the response from achieving a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and participial phrases (e.g., 'the major impact and repercussions due to poor diets including heart diseases, obesity, diabetes'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation lapses, particularly with missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and incomplete sentence structures. Examples include 'I am writing a letter to the magazine's editor' (where 'a letter' is redundant given the context), 'concerning importance' (missing article), 'How deeply it acknowledege' (fragmented exclamation-style structure), and 'an social media platform' (incorrect article). While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to restrict your score to this band.
