Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, fulfilling the requirements for a General Training letter. You introduced the book 'Mahabharat', described what it was about, explained how it influenced your ability to focus and manage stress, and discussed whether it would likely influence others. However, some areas are more fully developed than others. For example, the explanation of how the book influenced you and the description of the book are a bit basic and lack extended detail. To reach a higher band, ideas need to be more fully expanded and supported throughout the letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, using standard letter-writing conventions. There is a logical progression from introducing the book to explaining its personal impact and finally discussing its broader appeal. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or faulty, with repetitive transitions and some referencing issues, such as 'it has different techniques how you could release stress'. While paragraphs are used sufficiently and appropriately to separate ideas, the management of cohesive devices needs to be smoother and more varied to achieve a stronger logical flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

An adequate range of vocabulary is used for the task, successfully communicating your message about the book. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary items, such as 'perspective' and 'solutions', but these are accompanied by noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'myrids' instead of myriads, 'focous' instead of focus, and 'proublem' instead of problem. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they demonstrate some inconsistency in lexical control. Improving spelling accuracy and expanding your range of natural collocations will help elevate your vocabulary score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the use of correlative structures like 'not only... but also'. However, there are several grammar and punctuation errors throughout the text, including capitalization issues ('i', 'Ved vyas', 'Ra'), missing articles ('read this book', 'is a great'), and tense inconsistencies. For instance, writing 'After the reading some parts' contains an unnecessary article and awkward phrasing. These errors are noticeable but rarely impede overall communication, reflecting a standard of control where simple sentences are generally sound while attempts at more complex structures introduce frequent minor mistakes.
