Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing a letter about magazines contributions that the one article named "the book that influenced me most".

I recently read a book related to health conscious which is good to get information about health. In this book I read how to maintain our health as well as what type of food and exercises are mandatory on daily basis. As, our health is the main to do any kind of task without it people are nothing.

This book is influenced me a lot because I spend too much hours in front of screens which puts adverse impact not only my eyes but also my health. In this book every things are detailed how t.v. screens impact and how our body is working like a machine.

This book would be influence other people by doing some exercises and yoga which are mentioned along with benefits. Additionally, this book also mentioned the wrong and right time to do tasks like sleeping, eating as well as exercises.

I appreciated your team about this book as most of people are collect knowledge from this book about our health.

Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover the three requested points: you describe a health-related book, explain that it prompted you to consider the effects of screen use, and suggest that its exercise and routine advice could help others. The topic is relevant, but the book itself remains vague: there is no title or specific example of its advice, and the influence on you is not explained in much detail. The final paragraph also shifts into thanking the magazine team rather than clearly stating whether readers in general are likely to be influenced and why. Develop these points with a concrete example from the book and a clearer explanation of its effect on your habits or outlook.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable structure, with separate paragraphs for the book’s content, its effect on you, and its possible effect on others. This makes the main ideas reasonably easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “Additionally” and “because” help connect information, although some connections are awkward or unclear—for example, “This book would be influence other people by doing some exercises” does not clearly express the relationship between the book and its readers. The opening also repeats the task wording rather than introducing the book naturally, and the closing introduces a new point about the magazine team. Use clearer transitions and keep each paragraph focused on one part of the task.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “health,” “exercises,” “adverse impact,” and “benefits,” so the reader can understand the general subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “health conscious” and “mandatory on daily basis,” but these combinations are not natural in context. Several phrases are vague or repetitive, including “this book” and “our health,” which limits precision. Choose more idiomatic wording and name the book’s subject or advice more specifically—for example, describe it as a guide to healthy habits and refer to its recommendations. Greater accuracy in collocation and word form would make your message clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a clause beginning “because” and a sentence using “as well as.” However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “This book is influenced me” instead of a correct past-tense form, “I spend too much hours” with incorrect tense and agreement, and “how our body is working” where the verb form is not suitable. The sentence beginning “As, our health…” is also incomplete, and “This book would be influence” has an incorrect verb pattern. Practise accurate past-tense forms, subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence construction before adding more complex clauses.
