Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir Madam,
I am writing to express my views about the book that has strong influenced on me.
I would like to highlight a book called sada Punjab that I recently red and found interesting. This book contains information about Punjab' history, geography and major infrastrucure projects.
One thing that impressed me most about this book was its detail related to Punjab state. It covered all the essential topics that are required for a person to know about a particular region. Another good thing was its simple language which makes the book even more engaging for first time learner .After reading this book , I developed more confident , knowledege and love to discuss all its topics.
I would highly reccommend this book to people who have a strong desire to acquire more knnowldege about punjab. I am confident that they would find it fascinating if they read once and interested readers can also access it through government literature website free of cost.
I hope people would read this book and develop deeper understanding about punjab province.
Please feel free to seek more information related to this topic.
Yours faithfully,
Sukhpal,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the book and its subject, describe its effect on you, and recommend it to readers interested in Punjab. The details about its history, geography and infrastructure make the description relevant, while your increased confidence, knowledge and interest show personal influence. The recommendation is clear and includes a useful note about free access. However, the personal impact is stated rather than illustrated—for example, you do not explain how your new knowledge or love of discussion changed your actions or outlook. The likelihood of influencing others is also asserted more than explained. Developing these points with a specific example would make the response more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: introduction, description of the book, its effect on you, and a recommendation. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and phrases such as “Another good thing” and “I would highly recommend” signal the progression. The closing is appropriate for a formal letter. Some connections are less smooth, however: the sentence beginning “After reading this book” combines several effects without showing how they relate, and the final paragraph repeats the hope that people will read the book after you have already recommended it. A more precise link between the book’s features and its influence on you, plus a less repetitive ending, would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “history,” “geography,” “infrastructure projects,” “engaging,” and “deeper understanding.” These choices help communicate the book’s subject and appeal. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “red,” “infrastrucure,” “knowledege,” and “reccommend.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “strong influenced on me,” “developed more confident,” and “read once.” These issues make the expression less precise, even though the main meaning is generally clear. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “had a strong influence on me” and “gain confidence and knowledge.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple sentences and some more developed structures, including “One thing that impressed me most about this book was…” and the conditional “I am confident that they would find it fascinating if they read…”. The overall meaning remains understandable. However, some grammatical errors affect accuracy: “Dear Sir Madam” needs a conjunction, “This book contains” shifts into the present after the past-tense description, and “which makes” does not agree with the earlier past-tense framing. The sentence “I developed more confident, knowledge and love” also has faulty parallel structure. Review articles, agreement, tense consistency and parallel forms, then proofread punctuation and spacing to make your varied sentences more controlled.
