Student answer (Band 7.0)
The choice of living close to the place where people born has sparked a question of debate among many societies. A significant rise has been seen in the majority of people to live closer to the birth place owing to have deep connection with nature and family values. I believe that the merits supersede demerits. This essay will explain the reasons of this phenomenon with examples and pros in the upcoming paragraphs.
The prominent reasons of living close to the birth place is stronger connection with the family members. When people stay where they born, it gives them a chance to rejuvenate their memories and keep them alive. For example, the Indian individuals often feel more confident when they live close to their loved ones and share their achievements and life experiences with their family members. Consequently, it is evident that living near to loved ones instils a sense of connection and relationships become more meaningful. Another important reason is a sense of belonging with nature. Many people who are working away from their homes choose to find an accommodation near to birth place just to feel comfortable and connective with their family members. Therefore, people can see their loved ones and celebrate the special occasions with them. To cite an instance, the Indian community individuals prefer to celebrate special events with their kith and kins, bringing joy and happiness in their life. Another advantage is environmental aspects. If any of the children grow any of the trees or plants at their birth place, they have stronger connection with the nature and do not want to leave that place at any cost. Although some work or study reasons do not allow them to stay at their place, their main concern is to take decisions wisely and give their best to find a place closer to birth place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for staying in one's birthplace and discussing both advantages and disadvantages. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the 'connection to family' is mentioned in both the reasons and the advantages sections, which limits the depth of the analysis. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that each paragraph introduces distinct, well-developed points rather than restating similar concepts. The inclusion of examples, such as the Indian community, helps support your arguments, but the discussion of disadvantages is quite thin and could be expanded to provide a more balanced view.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', and 'to cite an instance' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'majoripeople' (a typo) or the phrasing 'deciding living close to'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, focus on smoother transitions between sentences and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is more fluid and less reliant on repetitive sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including phrases like 'rejuvenate their memories' and 'kith and kins'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors that impact the precision of your writing, such as 'owing to have deep connection' (should be 'owing to having') and 'majoripeople' (likely a typo for 'majority of people'). Some collocations are also slightly off, such as 'alive their childhood memories'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, increasing your use of more sophisticated, precise academic vocabulary and ensuring accurate word forms would elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and prepositions, such as 'where they born' (should be 'where they were born') and 'choose live close to' (should be 'choose to live close to'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the frequency of these minor grammatical slips prevents the writing from being error-free. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives and passive voice constructions.
