Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat repetitive. For example, the discussion on 'comfort' and 'memories' appears in both the introduction and the body paragraphs. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more varied and nuanced to reach a higher band. The conclusion provides a summary, but the advice given is slightly vague. Overall, the response covers the requirements sufficiently, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Thus', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'This is to say that'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing is occasionally imprecise, for instance, 'This leads to get attached with them' lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different sections of the prompt, which helps the reader follow the argument despite some minor lapses in flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or non-standard collocations, such as 'where they were got birth' (should be 'where they were born') and 'have emotions with that location'. The student relies on basic vocabulary like 'good', 'bad', or 'life', and struggles with more sophisticated word choices. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of flexibility and the presence of errors in word choice prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More precise terminology regarding migration or personal development would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'The pros of such life are helpful them to admire more to be there' and 'they restrict not only their individual growth, but also they can not face challenges'. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. While the writer attempts complex structures, they are often faulty. Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic sentence construction limits the score to the 5.5–6.0 range.
