Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, though some points, such as the 'social security' mentioned in the second paragraph, could be more thoroughly developed with specific examples. The position is clear throughout, and the structure follows the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that the arguments are extended with more concrete evidence or detailed explanations rather than relying on general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In contrast', 'Secondly', 'On the one hand', and 'On the other hand'. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'These all memories'). The use of cohesive devices is sufficient to guide the reader, but more variety and smoother integration would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'emotional attachment' and 'comfort zone'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or word choice errors, such as 'over weigh' instead of 'outweigh', 'develop places' instead of 'developed places', and 'comfortableness'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' missing before 'same place'), subject-verb agreement ('memories helps'), and prepositions ('overcome from there fears'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding pluralization and the correct use of articles, which would allow for a more professional tone.
