Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, this trend has been seen that there are number of individuals, who love to be around the place where they are born. This may be beneficial for them in certain ways, however, I think the disadvantages of this outweigh the benefits.
To commence with, spending most of the time of your life close to the place where you are being raised from beginning has various merits, such as safety, reliability and emotional stability. Individuals living close to their birth place has always an emotional support and secured feeling. For instance, my friend was born in a village and spent his adulthood days over there. He got a job in town, he did that job for sometime and came back, as he was missing the moral support and did not feel secured there.
Admittedly, there are numerous drawbacks of this. This can stop your personal development, like this could lead to lack of confidence, which might have adverse affects on your communication skills, as a result, we have to face difficulties to build connections with others. Moreover, this would never let you come out of your comfort zone and in the end you will get stuck doing same things, which can develop the feeling of boredom.
In my opinion, this has various demerits, as this will bound you to a particular area and you will end up missing tremendous places from all over the world. Furthermore, you never got to taste different cuisines, which have the authenticity of the country of its origin.
In conclusion, I believe that the disadvantages of this outweigh the advantages. Both have their own strengths and weaknesses but according to me, public should travel and try new things in their life span.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, and the advantages and disadvantages. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the reasons provided for staying (safety, reliability) are mentioned but not deeply explored. Similarly, the disadvantages regarding personal development are stated but could be supported with more specific, nuanced examples beyond just 'boredom' or 'cuisines'. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with a clear link back to the prompt's core question. The structure is logical, but the depth of analysis is currently at a mid-level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Admittedly', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level flow, such as the phrasing 'this trend has been seen that there are number of individuals'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'emotional stability' and 'adverse affects' (note: the correct spelling is 'effects'). However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'spent his adulthood days over there' and 'bound you to a particular area'. The range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and more academic phrasing would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'there are number of individuals' (missing article), 'where you are being raised' (tense inconsistency), and 'adverse affects' (confused word). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that slightly impede the flow. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentence structures are constructed accurately without errors that distract the reader.
