Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons, advantages, and disadvantages. However, the development of these ideas is limited. For example, the reasons provided are somewhat repetitive, focusing primarily on emotional attachment and comfort. The advantages and disadvantages are mentioned but lack depth or specific examples to fully support the points made. The conclusion is a bit disjointed and does not effectively summarize the main arguments. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples, ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, focused argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the flow between ideas is often mechanical and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic transition words like 'Firstly' and 'Moreover,' and some sentences are disjointed, such as 'there are lots of reasons some people prefer to live where they born.' Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs lacks logical depth. To improve, try to use a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother, more natural flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple phrases like 'lots of' and 'good,' which limits the precision of your writing. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'hactic' (hectic) and 'living in born' (living where they were born). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should focus on learning collocations and more academic synonyms to express your ideas with greater accuracy and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('people lives'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors that occasionally make the reader pause, such as 'they do not have time to remember about their childhood memories.' While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring correct verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
