Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, though they are somewhat under-developed. For example, the explanation of 'lack of communication skills' as a disadvantage is a bit vague and could have been supported with a more concrete example of how this limits career or social growth. The position is clear throughout, but the development of arguments lacks depth, keeping the response at a Band 6 level. To improve, ensure each point is expanded with a specific example or a more detailed explanation of the 'why' and 'how'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions are a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, although there are occasional issues with pronoun usage (e.g., 'As there life is sorrounded'). The progression of ideas is logical, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent referencing would help elevate the score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'familarity', 'drawbaks', 'incluse') and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'adhere at that place'). While the student successfully communicates the main ideas, the range of vocabulary is limited to common, everyday words. To achieve a higher band score, the student should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling. Incorporating synonyms and more sophisticated phrasing would demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., 'where they born' instead of 'where they were born', 'they asks assistance'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent the message from being understood. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction, specifically tense consistency and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
