Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some individuals spend most of their life span where the were born .Well there are many reasons behind this perspective .I believe there are more advantages and few disadvantages .This essay will discuss both perspectives with true life examples .

On one hand the birth place have soul 's connection with us .Living on birthday place emerges emotional vibes, that make us peaceful, gives inner satisfaction of loyalty. For instance my grandfather loves to live in pakistan, beside we all family prefer to live in America .Our accentors spent their lives here, they have special bonding and belongings so ultimately, my own father also want to come back pakistan where he was born. there are some advantages of living here in pakistan as told to me my father that, his childhood memories ,education tenure ,belongings ,struggles, relatives ,friends even our forefathers engraved here .He can visit anyone anytime.

On the other hand, moving to other city or country for education for better future is more beneficial for life , for instance one of my relative got a chance of foreign scholarship, and a job it was a golden chance for he to established his future .Unfortunately, he missed this chance because he want to spend his life where he was born .Migration to other place provides chance to groom, exploring others cultures, new opportunities of higher studies and occupations ,languages, and cultures .

So, all in all in my opinion, the disadvantages outweigh advantages .Moving is better for people 'future and for their well being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for staying in one's birthplace and discussing the advantages and disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide personal examples, such as your father's experience, the analysis remains quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'reasons' more thoroughly—for example, by discussing economic stability or cultural identity in greater depth. The conclusion is clear, but the argument regarding the disadvantages of staying could be more robustly supported to ensure a more balanced and comprehensive response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand,' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this,' 'these') is used more precisely would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'engraved,' 'perspective,' and 'migration.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'birth place have soul's connection' and 'emerges emotional vibes.' These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they do indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the birth place have'), article usage ('to Pakistan'), and pronoun usage ('for he to established'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While these errors rarely impede communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors will significantly improve your score.
