Student answer (Band 6.5)

A huge number of individuals prefer to spend half of their lives close to their native country . Maybe they do not want to get out of their comfort zone. Some benefits might be facilities and drawbacks can be seen of this trend which i will explain further.

On the one hand, people might be find comfortable for living around in the same space for longer time and get to know about each and everything very deeply. Moreover, they might get more job opportunities as compared to new place. Easy access to anything for example, hospitals ,schools and so on. People get to know about everything from their early age and they might get more progress as well they get to know what is wrong or right for them. In the end, they feel so delightful for getting anything they need.

On the other hand, there are some possible difficult situations can be seen. Such as, people may not be able to develop properly because in future if they migrate to any other city or country then they may not able to adapt their culture fully. Because they do not know anything about what is happening. Another possibility is can be language barrier as they not able to learn any new language and this could be effect on their skills.

In conclusion, undoubtedly, people want to stay in their space from where they can get everything easily. This can be dangerous for their future progress because of not exploring out of their limited space and effect on skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the 'advantages' section mentions job opportunities and access to facilities but lacks specific examples or deeper explanation to fully support these points. The 'disadvantages' section touches on cultural adaptation and language barriers, but the arguments are slightly repetitive and lack depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or concrete examples, ensuring that each paragraph provides a comprehensive exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical or slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between sentences in the second paragraph is abrupt, and some referencing is unclear. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences flow logically from one to the next, rather than appearing as a list of separate points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'migrate', 'culture', and 'language barrier'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'feel so delightful for getting anything they need' or 'get more progress'. There is also a lack of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations to express your ideas with greater nuance and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'people might be find comfortable', 'they not able to learn', and 'this could be effect on their skills'. These errors occasionally make the text slightly difficult to read, although they do not completely impede communication. Your control over verb forms and prepositions needs improvement. To achieve a higher score, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and correct sentence construction. Practising the use of complex structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, while ensuring they are grammatically accurate, will also help boost your score.
