Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons, advantages, and disadvantages. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are generally relevant. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'public speaking fear' as a result of staying in one's birthplace is a bit of a leap and lacks logical connection to the main argument. While the response is well-structured, the arguments could benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion provides a clear summary of the writer's stance, which helps in maintaining a consistent position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'Therefore', and 'On the other hand' are used effectively to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'it helps the community to earn their neighbors trust', where the antecedent for 'it' is slightly ambiguous. Overall, the flow is coherent, and the structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use some less common vocabulary, such as 'livelihood' and 'comfort zone'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'save your parents culture' (preserve) and 'general labors' (laborers). Additionally, the phrase 'earn their neighbors trust' is slightly unnatural. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the lack of precision in word choice and occasional awkward phrasing prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'living a a particular place' and 'are failed to have'. Some sentences are slightly clunky, for example, 'living at a particular place for very long let a person to be familiar'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not significantly impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentence structures are grammatically sound.
