Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying, advantages, and disadvantages. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention family pressure and ancestral land, these points are not fully explored with specific, illustrative examples. The discussion on advantages and disadvantages is brief and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete scenarios. For instance, when discussing career growth, you could explain how moving to a city provides access to specific industries or networking opportunities that are unavailable in a rural hometown.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward sentence structures. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'shift to the another', where the noun is missing. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'ancestral land', 'career growth', and 'relocate'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'surrender their maximum lifespan' and 'intact with their hometown'. These phrases sound unnatural in English. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise vocabulary to express your thoughts. You tend to repeat simple words, so incorporating a wider range of synonyms would help demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people has ancestral land') and article usage (e.g., 'the another'). There are also issues with word order and missing prepositions, such as 'which can helpful' instead of 'which can be helpful'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your verb forms and sentence structures are consistently correct.
