Student answer (Band 6.0)

Lot of people choose not to leave the place where they originally belongs to. This essay shall discuss the reason for this choice and pros and cons of the dicision to not change the place.

To begin with, people have storng connection to their native place and childhood friends. They are to used to their surrounding because it feels more safe and get emotional support from peers. For instance, one is born and brought up at the same place and spends rest of life then he or she will have strong community connection and will have people who will always get thrie back in any situation. Secondly, staying at one place keeps the mind at peace. To give it a reason, person do not have to think and feel stress about finding and moving to another place, making new friends, adjusting in new neighbourhood.

Deciding to live at one place comes with its own benefits and drawback. Person can set up whole house according to their taste and can enjoy festival together with the family and also would be able to attend the family and friends functions more compare to the person who is has shifted from their borned place. On the other hand, who chooses to shift and go to other places they learn new things such as finding new house itself, making initate to talk to strangers which helps to improve communication skills. For example, if sombody changes their country then one has to learn new language as well as have to struggle to fit into new culture which eventually makes a person mentaly strong.

To conclude, there are enough reasons to not change the area where on has borned because of relations and easyness of life but leaving a place and starting and setting up new place has its own learning.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: reasons for staying in one's birthplace, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this choice. The ideas are relevant, such as emotional support and community ties for the reasons, and the benefits of stability versus the personal growth gained from moving. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of the disadvantages of staying is brief and could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The position is clear throughout, but the overall depth of the arguments remains at a functional level rather than a fully extended one.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas, moving from reasons to pros and cons. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, although there are occasional slips in pronoun usage (e.g., 'who chooses to shift... they learn'). The paragraphing is appropriate, and the essay follows a standard structure that makes the writer's intent easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are sometimes hindered by word-choice errors or awkward collocations, such as 'easyness of life' instead of 'ease of life' or 'making initate' instead of 'taking the initiative'. Spelling errors, such as 'storng', 'thrie', and 'mentaly', occur throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and spelling to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('person do not have to', 'one has borned') and article usage ('at the same place'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'one is born and brought up at the same place and spends rest of life then he or she will have...'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is noticeable and prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb tenses and sentence construction is required.
